Emily Blair Marcus has a decade of experience working in the entertainment industry, both as a journalist and a publicist. Her expert understanding of both sides of the velvet rope uniquely positions Emily Blair Media as a multi-faceted agency who intricately recognize how the media best operates - and our competitive advantage as a firm is Emily’s tenure in the editorial industry.
After landing an internship with Us Weekly magazine at age 17, while still a senior in high school, Emily quickly became a valued member of the team, and held her position throughout her college career at Chapman University. By her senior year, Emily was a full time staff writer and reporter at the publication. While balancing a heavy course-load and extracurricular activities, she also attended star-studded events and broke national news stories. Throughout her time at Us Weekly, Emily interviewed every A-list celebrity, attended countless award shows, from the Academy Awards to the Grammys, and developed strong and enduring relationships with talent, agents, managers, brands, and of course, her fellow journalists who she operated alongside for four years.
In 2019, on the brink of the emerging creator economy, Emily recognized a deep shift in the editorial arena. A new wave of celebrity was nearing shore, and evidently, traditional PR tactics weren’t moving the needle. With countless lackluster pitches left unopened in her inbox, and the same, familiar group of talent securing media coverage on a loop, Emily saw the immediate and necessary need for a different kind of PR agency, one employing tactics strategically designed to make the new age of brands and talent more mediable, and spearhead an approach guaranteed to optimize audience growth, press placement, and ROI. So she created just that.
Emily Blair Media was founded to fill a gaping hole in the market, and bridge the gap between boutique clients and the rapidly evolving media landscape. Emily has spoken about her career path at Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design twice as part of their Vogue Education Series, alongside the likes of Victoria Beckham and British Vogue editor in chief, Edward Enninful. She has also joined panels hosted by ABC Food Tours, a philanthropic organization founded by The Bachelor alum Tyler Cameron and Matt James, committed to the welfare and empowerment of underprivileged school children. In 2023, Emily delivered the commencement speech at her alma mater, Chapman University’s School of Communication, where she serves as a strategic advisor to ensure curriculum is up to par with professional trends and standards to better prepare graduates entering the workforce.
